A mechanical homogenizer applying rotational shear forces can achieve maximum rotational speeds of 35,000 rpms, and test a wide sample-size range as wide as 0.03 mL to 40 L. Precision computer control technology allows some mechanical homogenizers to be operated from a laptop PC, and offer speed adjustments in increments of hundreds of rpms.
